Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of East Africa ,Mr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has today met with Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
Held in a warm and welcoming environment, the discussions underscored the enduring bilateral relationship between Tanzania and Cuba, a legacy of the friendship between iconic leaders Julius Nyerere and Fidel Castro Ruz.
The ministers conveyed a mutual resolve to further strengthen ties and boost cooperation in areas of shared interest.
Minister Bruno Rodríguez took the opportunity to express gratitude to Tanzania for its consistent support. This support is evident in both the African Union and the United Nations, advocating for the Cuban government’s and people’s call for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
Accompanying Mr. Kombo were His Excellency Mr. Humphrey H. Polepole, the Tanzanian Ambassador to Cuba, and Ambassador Swahiba H. Mndeme, Director of the Department of Europe and the Americas within Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
Representing the Cuban side were Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández, Director General of Bilateral Affairs; Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, Deputy Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law; Luis Alberto Amorós Núñez, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa; along with other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
